CONSENT Uganda (“Consent”, “we”, “us”) is committed to protecting the privacy and personal data of every consumer, partner, volunteer, and visitor who interacts with our website and services. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices available to you.
Consent Uganda collects personal information (such as name, email address, phone number, and location) strictly when voluntarily provided via contact forms, grievance reporting tools, volunteer applications, partnership inquiries, or newsletter subscriptions. We do not collect personal data passively beyond standard, anonymised website analytics.
Your details are used exclusively to process consumer grievances, respond to partnership inquiries, issue email updates, or escalate food safety complaints to regulatory authorities (such as UNBS or the Ministry of Health) with your consent. We may use aggregated, anonymised data to improve our advocacy and educational resources.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to commercial third parties under any circumstances. Access to personal data is restricted to authorised CONSENT staff who require it to perform their duties, and all staff are bound by confidentiality obligations.
Where a complaint relates to an unsafe product, food poisoning, or a potential violation of consumer protection law, we may, with your express consent, share the relevant details with statutory bodies such as the Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS), the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC), or the Ministry of Health to pursue investigation and redress. We will never share more information than is necessary for the purpose.
We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures — including secure transmission, access controls, and restricted storage — to protect personal data against loss, misuse, and unauthorised access. However, no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Under the Uganda Data Protection and Privacy Act 2019, you have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, and to withdraw consent for its use at any time. To exercise these rights, contact our secretariat at info@consentug.org.
Our website may contain links to external sites (for example, UNBS or the National PDO portal). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party websites and encourage you to review their policies before submitting personal information.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in law or our practices. The revised policy will be published on this page with an updated “Last Updated” date.
